Education for The Alternative
Welcome to the homepage for Education for The Alternative, Woodcraft Folk's presence at the March for The Alternative in London on Saturday 26th March. This will be a very large, peaceful march that will bring together people from all sectors of society - trade unionists, public sector workers, students, unemployed people, and ordinary families.
At the March Woodcraft Folk volunteers are creating a moving safe space with a family friendly atmosphere where children and young people will be able to join the demostration while remaining safe. We’re also teaming up with the TUC to run a lost kids space and an activities marquee in Hyde Park with political crafts and co-operative games.

The Full Details For Saturday
Venteran Woodcraft Folk leader from Exeter Ghee Bowman is helping co-ordinate the Woodcraft Folk Education for The Alternative presence at The March. Below he explains exactly what will be going on at the March but if you have any questions please don't hesitate to get in touch:
What will we be doing
Marching, singing, chanting, enjoying the march in the beautiful sunshine! There will be Woodcraft Folk volunteer stewards who will ensure that we are safe and know where to go.
The march will start on Victoria Embankment, go along the river towards Westminster Bridge, through Parliament Square, up Whitehall to Trafalgar Square, then Piccadilly Circus, along Piccadilly and finishing with a rally in Hyde Park. It’s about 3 miles in all. In Hyde Park there will be a rally with speeches - 4 lots of 40 minutes, with music in between. Woodcraft Folk will be running children’s activities in an official TUC marquee - crafts, singing, stories, games, parachute games. These activities will be open to all children.

There's nothing like have a great placard or banner to wave at a protest! Woodcraft Folk are producing a few large fabric banners that tie in with the special t-shirts but to really make your point its always most fun to make your own. Below are just a few of the banners that were featured in the Woodcraft Folk's 16-20 age group's Zine after the waves of large protests before Christmas.
Or if you want somthing a little more connected to the Woodcraft Folk brand to inspire click the image below to see the artwork we're using for some new 3m x 3m acrylic banners.
