Introducing Verity

Tuesday, 31 January 2012

Hello all you marvellous Woodcrafters,

I'm Verity; the ‘New-Part-Time-Temporary-Development-Officer-for-Mentoring’ on the TREE team, and I am really very ecstatic about this.

Four things you might not know about me are:

1. I joined Woodcraft Folk when I was 8 years old.

2. We didn’t have a television at home while I was growing up.

3. I have turned up to three separate events in fancy dress to discover I’m the only person in costume.

4. In 2006 I went to India, from Oxford, by train.

As I am sure you all know, 2012 is the Year of Cooperation. I am really happy to be working on a project which is all about people cooperating to enable young people to be more involved in Woodcraft Folk activities. Mentoring is a programme for supporting young people who are in new roles, developing new skills or getting involved in projects. It’s going to be a really exciting part of my next 7 months and I’d love it if you could join me and make it a really exciting part of yours too. Keep your eyes on www.woodcraft.org.uk/mentoring for the latest news.

If you would like to train to be a mentor the first event is April 20th-22nd near London, see: https://woodcraft.org.uk/activities/supporting-young-leaders-mentor-training
