Height Gate Has Energetic Plans.

Published on Monday May 02 2005

For 2006, there are plans to make Height Gate more comfortable by using renewable energy and less fossil fuels. Ideas include:

  • A new stove in the barn, to make the barn and sleeping platform more comfortable.
  • A new hot water system, fed by solar panels and a back boiler attached to a new stove in the living room, to replace the electric heaters in the bedrooms and bathroom.

The stoves will use pellets made from waste wood as fuel. They are designed to be very clean and efficient, and will feature a time switch so that the centre will always be warm and welcoming when visitors arrive.

We need to apply for grants to pay for these changes. It will help our applications if you could tell us what you think of these ideas – and give us any other suggestions. Please, please take a few minutes to send us an e-mail letting us know:

  • What you think of our ideas, and whether they would help improve your visit to Height Gate.
  • Whether you think it's important that we use renewable energy at Height Gate, and why.
  • Innovative and attractive ideas for how we can educate everybody using the centre about the renewable energy it will use.
  • Your name / the name of your group, and when (if at all) you last visited Height Gate.

For more details on our plans, please get in touch.
