Woodcraft Folk Member Receives Jack Petchey Award

Published on Friday July 03 2009

Congratulations to Harlow district’s Terry Patrick who was made young person of June/July by the Jack Petchey Foundation for his work with children at Woodcraft Folk.  The foundation established its awards in 1999 and gives grants to programmes and projects that benefit young people aged 11-25, focusing on London and Essex.

Terry was nominated by Harlow long-timer Roger Pickering who remembers him as an elfin in his group. Terry has grown up through the Woodcraft Folk and at 18 is now the
official elfin group leader and a pioneer helper.

Roger commented “Terry will go to Waltham Abbey Town Hall next month to pick up a medal and £200 to be spent on whatever project he wants. He has already told them he
wants it to be spent towards the costs of our children going to Germany this summer with the German Red Falcons”.
