Powerpod Fuels Annual Gathering 2009

Published on Monday June 22 2009

Also present at this year’s Annual Gathering was the resourceful Powerpod.  Travelling down from Scotland with Martyn Wells and Fleur Gayet, the trailer played a key role in powering the weekend’s events.  Over the two day conference the Powerpod trailer collected plentiful sunshine and converted it into power which fed two large plasma TV screens, laptops, audio equipment and even fuelled the evening’s entertainment.

Even on Sunday afternoon the pod had ample resources and Martyn Wells explained “driving back home today Powerpod will still be recharging wherever there is sunshine”, he added “this was a great test run; we are now going to Celtic Camp knowing that we can power a large event and use it for more than 12 hours”

Also present at AG, beside Powerpod, was Leicester’s renewable trailer.  This was used at 10.30 on the Saturday night as a back up supply and continued to recharge throughout Sunday.

Powerpod itself featured in discussions held during the conference and plans are now afoot to create Showerpod, this new trailer will house two shower cubicles where solar powered hot water will keep campers mud-free without costing the earth.
