Last Saturday young people in the Woodcraft Folk gathered with thousands of others in Hyde Park, London, and in Edinburgh, to stand up and show their opposition to the ongoing conflict in Gaza. General Council are proud that so many of our members, both young and old came together to send a clear message that the violence and killing must stop.

The Woodcraft Folk is affiliated to the Stop the War Coalition and has worked with Palestinian and Israeli partners from other children's and young people’s organisations under the umbrella of the International Falcon Movement over a number of years on educational programmes on peace and conflict resolution. Young people in the Woodcraft Folk, and young people from our partner organisations, see that violence and war are not the answer to the current dispute and are extremely concerned that hundreds of innocent children, young people and adults are being killed. They see that war and killing are not the answer to these complex issues, and peace will only come through a will on all sides to talk and a commitment to allow people to live together in peace. They support fully the UN's call for an immediate ceasefire and a return to peaceful negotiation.

We express our solidarity and support for those members of our partner organisations caught up in this conflict, as well as to those innocent people suffering as a result of it.

The message is quite simple: the killing must stop, and every effort must be made to find a lasting peaceful solution to this conflict.
