Published on Friday January 04 2008

The Woodcraft Folk, the progressive educational movement for children and young people, has appointed Debs McCahon as Membership Development Manager, part of its principal officer team.

Debs has a long history working with young people and volunteers, most recently managing the Heritage Lottery Fund's Young Roots grant programme. She was previously member development officer for the Youth Action Network, a Millennium Volunteers adviser for the Department for Education and Skills and youth volunteers facilitator for Herefordshire and Worcestershire Community Council.

Her job with the Woodcraft Folk will include working towards the growth of the Woodcraft Folk by developing new members and groups and supporting existing ones. She will take the lead on child protection policies and procedures and devise and implement an inclusion and diversity strategy.

"I am passionate about youth participation, the environment and helping others reach their potential," said Debs.

"I am really excited about the the opportunities and challenges that I will face working with the Woodcraft Folk and its members, and I can't wait to get started."
