Days Of Hope Receives Glowing Ofsted Report

Published on Wednesday September 19 2007

Liss Woodcraft Folk in Hampshire have received a glowing report from the Ofsted Inspectorate for their Days of Hope Summer Playscheme that ran throughout August 2007. Their work in helping children achieve well and enjoy what they do was judged to be "outstanding."

The report stated, “The children achieve well because the staff are skilled and use their good understanding of children’s developmental needs to provide excellent quality of care.”

The report also praised the staff for planning exciting first-hand experiences that help children to develop a wide range of skills and independence and for their provision of cultural opportunities through offering sessions influenced by other countries.

Recognition was given to the staff of Liss Woodcraft Folk for caring for children in a stimulating environment which is safe and secure. Staff were described as extremely friendly, approachable with good knowledge of child protection procedures and the ability to recognise what help is required by special needs children.

Pam Gruber, project co-ordinator for the Days of Hope Playscheme, said, “I am absolutely delighted with this result. The staff work extremely hard at a time when most people are enjoying a welcome summer break. This is so rewarding for our young workers, Richard Kinge, Abi Edwards and Paul Gruber, who give up their time to help young children enjoy themselves.”

The group’s policies also came in for praise being described as very well- written.

The scheme this year was staffed by Pam Gruber, Lee Edwards and Andrea Paget with help from Jane Mackrell and Lorna Bateman.

Liss Woodcraft Folk have now resumed the running of their Friday youth club and the Monday group for over 13s. Anyone interested in their work can contact Pam Gruber on 01730 301270 or check out the website.
