Tell Us Your Experience Of Volunteering

Published on Friday June 15 2007

For several months a Commission chaired by Baroness Julia Neuberger has been looking into the ways people involved in voluntary organisations contribute to society as a whole, and now they want to hear from you.

They want to know about your experiences of being a volunteer. What do you really enjoy about it? What made you start in the first place? What makes it easy or difficult to keep up your volunteering?

They’re also keen to know how they could encourage more people to volunteer, and indeed is it the role of the Government to promote voluntary work?

What do you think having people involved in voluntary organisations adds to society? Should they be recognised formally for their contribution?

If you, or anyone in your Group/District/Region, has an opinion on this, then please email kirsty.palmer@woodcraft.org.uk with your thoughts.

All thoughts received by June 22nd will be included in the Woodcraft Folk’s submission to the Commission. All contributions will be anonymous, unless you specifically say otherwise.

We are really interested in the experiences of DFs and other young volunteers who have come up through the Folk as well as those people who have dedicated more time than they can remember. The more personal the story the better – the smallest things are often the most powerful.
