I am the mother of one of the newest members of the woodcraft folk in Acocks Green. I would just like to say that we went camping to earlswood and how much we enjoyed it, since joining the group my daughter has been so different, she's not as quiet anymore and gets on really well with everyone there.

Great to find this website, and to see the Woodcraft Folk is still thriving.
I was a member in Alexandria, Scotland in the 60s and have many GREAT memories of our meetings, weekend hiking/hosteling, summer camps, etc..
I wish I now had the opportunity to thank our group's leaders (the McGougans, the Dorans and the Gallachers) for giving up so much of their own time and giving me some of the happiest times of my life.
The Woodcraft Folk is a truly great organization for kids and young adults.
Keep up the good work!
Alastair.

I was in the Manchester Woodcraft Folk from around 1963. We had our meetings at Benchill School and then later at Hollyhedge Coop Hall. Our leaders were Mrs Caldwell, Doreen Miller and later on when I was in the Venturers, Frank Davenport. We were in the North West Kin with Wallasey and Warrington. I have a lot of happy memories of Woodcraft and I spent my 15th birthday at Lockerbrook. Ish Ash Ush

My brother Robin and i were woodcrafters in the late 70's-early 8o's. We had the best time!! I remember camping in Hazlemere and Rottingdean. I still camp regularly and owe my love of the outdoors and nature to the Woodcraft folk!! I also know how to dig a toilet and what to do in the event of a nuclear strike (well it was the 80's!). Hooray! I miss those days.....

Theorganisation made abig impact o my life. I was fotunate to attend an International camp in Utrecht, Holland I think this was in 1946/7 and believe we wer the first group of children to go overseas after WW11. My group folk name was Kingfisher
