For the last 11 years the SfS has been encouraging all areas of the community to take part in creating and enjoying storytelling, awakening imagination and creativity. During National Storytelling Week 2011, an audience of around 17,000 people aged from 3 to 93 years took part. BBC Local Radio stations across the country have always supported the week and joined in with storytelling broadcasts by SfS members as well as other storytellers.Storytelling can be found enriching lives everywhere: from nurseries to schools, from bereavement aids in hospitals to strengthening communication in the business sphere, from reminiscence centres to support groups for those with special needs, and in theatrical performances.  The sharing between teller and listener empowers, feeding the imagination from one generation to the next.
